ICH specialists from Hong Kong and the Philippines visited IRCI

On 9 January 2024, IRCI received two courtesy visits of foreign ICH specialists.

In the morning, a staff member of Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Office, Ms Agnes Wong, visited IRCI. We exchanged information on each other’s organizations including their roles and missions, then recent research activities. Ms Wong also introduced publications and the exhibition on Hong Kong ICH at the office, and expressed her interest in cooperating with IRCI in the future research activities.

In the afternoon, IRCI welcomed professors from the University of the Philippines–Diliman, Dr Calros P. Tatel, Jr (Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology, College of Social Science and Philosophy) and Dr Mary Jane B. Rodriguez-Tatel (Associate Professor, Department of Filipino and Philippine Literature, College of Arts and Letters), who cooperated on our research project “Sustainable Research Data Collection for ICH Safeguarding in the Asia-Pacific Region” from FY 2020 to FY 2022. Introducing IRCI’s latest activities, we had discussions on the follow-up of research data collection in the Philippines and mutually agreed to further deepen the collaborative research relationship.
We are very grateful for their visits, which allowed us to start the new year 2024 with a fruitful day.
