Publication Programme for Early Career Researchers
Have you conducted research on intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in the Asia-Pacific region, but have little or no experience in publishing?
This programme is an opportunity for you!
The Asia-Pacific Research Forum for ICH Safeguarding, a new platform for research promotion and cooperation established by the International Research Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (IRCI), is organizing the Publication Programme for Early Career Researchers. The programme provides participants with free guidance and support from experienced ICH academics and researchers in developingpresenting and publishing a research paper. Pairs of researchers and ICH practitioners planning to co-author a research paper are also welcome. The call for applications will open in May 2024, with detailed programme information and submission guidelines.

A programme to develop, present, and publish a research paper
The programme consists of the following components.
There is no fee to participate in the programme.
– Online workshop/s on writing about ICH for journals
– Development of a paper with informal sessions with mentors
– Face-to-face workshop and oral presentation of the paper at an International Conference hosted by IRCI in Japan*
– Publication of a professional research paper
* The programme requires the presentation of a paper at the international conference to be organized by IRCI in February 2025.
The programme participants have the privilege of participating in this conference without applying.
◆Who can apply
Early career researchers (no age limit) who are working on or have conducted research on ICH in the Asia Pacific Region, such as:
– Graduate students and postdoctoral researchers
– Early career researchers having recently started working on ICH-related topics and have no experience of publishing a paper
– Researchers working for NGOs, government agencies, museums, etc.
– ICH practitioners who have been involved in research
◆How to apply
Interested participants must submit:
– Abstract (500 words) describing the topic and methodology of your research
– CV
– Cover letter stating your interest and research background
