Call for Cases on Promoting Tangible-Intangible Synergies at UNESCO Designated Sites in Asia-Pacific (World Heritage, Biosphere Reserves, and Geoparks)
UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia (Beijing Office), in cooperation with Category 2 Centres in the Asia-Pacific region, is now inviting case studies from stakeholders related to UNESCO Designated Sites such as World Heritage properties, Biosphere Reserves, and UNESCO Global Geoparks as well as other cultural and natural heritage areas to submit case studies prompting tangible-intangible synergies. This call seeks innovative case studies that demonstrate holistic approaches to heritage management, integrating both tangible and intangible elements. The focus is on practices that address key challenges, engage local communities, enhance educational value, and eventually foster synergies between preservation and sustainable development.
IRCI is a partner in this initiative, seeing it as a valuable opportunity to build on its current research exploring how intangible cultural heritage is linked to and contributes to the protection of natural environments, including natural heritage sites, biosphere reserves, and geoparks. In this regard, IRCI encourages various stakeholders of ICH to submit their efforts and engagement with tangible heritage sites.
For further details, please see the document or visit the UNESCO website from the banner below.
Any inquiries regarding this call and the submission of the required documents should be directed to UNESCO Beijing Office: beijing.culture@unesco.org
The deadline for submitting case studies is 30 October 2025.
