IRCI was featured in the Sakai City Museum’s Sunday Talk (21 September 2025)

The Sakai City Museum, where IRCI is located, organizes a weekly event called ‘Sunday Talk’, in which the Museum curators give a 20–30 minute themed talk related to the Museum’s exhibits. On 21 September 2025, IRCI contributed to the programme, and IRCI Associate Fellow YAMAMOTO Hitomi delivered a talk entitled ‘UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Today’ at IRCI’s panel exhibition space.

The talk began by briefly introducing IRCI and its activities, followed by the topics related to the UNESCO ICH, such as the inscription process for the Representative List of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and the role of the Intergovernmental Committee.

The event attracted approximately 15 visitors of all ages. Participants asked questions about the advantages of having ICH elements inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List. Some participants commented that they found it impressive that ICH is often documented through videos, whereas World Heritage Sites are usually presented through still images.
