ICH Experts of UNESCO Headquarters and C2 Centres gathered at the annual meeting held in Algeria
Presentation by Mr. Wataru Iwamoto, Director- General of IRCI
The Seventh Annual Coordination Meeting of Category 2 Centres (C2C) Active in the Field of Intangible Cultural Heritage was held in Algiers, Algeria on 2-3 September 2019. Participated in the meeting Mr. Tim Curtis, Chief, Intangible Cultural Heritage Section and the other experts of UNESCO’s Headquarters, UNESCO Beijing Office and C2C. As C2C, the Centres of Bulgaria, China, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Peru and Republic of Korea took part in the meeting.
In this meeting, the recent developments and important issues were discussed, which enabled the participants to deepen the understandings between UNESCO and Category 2 Centres. Also, each C2C reported their presentations with the themes of “ICH and emergencies”, “ICH and education” and others.
Representing IRCI, Mr. Wataru Iwamoto, Director-General, performed presentation with the theme of “IRCI’s Activities on ICH Safeguarding and Disaster Risk Management in the Asia-Pacific Region” to share its experience and knowledge with other participating countries. Regarding “ICH and education”, IRCI introduced its current project, which drew attention from participants.
After the questions and answers session on its presentation, participants shared the information on immediate challenges or possibilities of future collaboration on projects.
