Researchers visited Vietnam and Cambodia for enhancing the implementation of IRCI projects

For the purpose of strengthening the cooperative relationship with institutions and collecting information contributing to several IRCI projects including Study of Legal Systems Related to Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Greater Mekong Region, IRCI sent two researchers, Susan McIntyre-Tamwoy (Extent Heritage) and Katie O’Rourke (Katie O’Rourke Consulting) to Vietnam and Thailand. During 17-24 February 2016, they visited research institutions, heritage-related NGOs and government offices in these two countries to discuss current legal conditions for ICH safeguarding based on the questionnaires developed by IRCI. Interviewed organisations include: in Vietnam, Cultural Heritage Association of Vietnam; Vietnam Institute for Culture and Arts Studies; Vietnam Museum of Ethnology; Craft Link; UNESCO Hanoi Office; and in Cambodia, Ministry of Economy and Finance; Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts; Ministry of Justice; UNESCO Phnom Penh Office.
