On 17 February 2023, five project members of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, which consists of delegates from Mokpo National University, Incheon National University, Seoul National University and Sogang University, South Korea, visited IRCI.

Firstly, Iwamoto Wataru, Director-General of IRCI, explained its organization, roles and missions and the previous SDGs-related projects, especially the one that investigated the contribution of intangible cultural heritage on SDG 4 (Quality education) in FY 2018¬2019. Then, intensive discussions were done about various themes, such as UNESCO-associated schools, initiatives related to heritage education in Nara city, and linkage of communities and schools in heritage education. IRCI and the delegates also shared the current situation and issues in heritage education and ESD (Education for Sustainable Development)in both countries. They were the first visitors overseas for IRCI in 3 years since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
