The Second IRCI Researchers Forum(FY 2019)
Being an emerging multi-disciplinary research field, research for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in the Asia-Pacific region needs active interaction among researchers and experts from diverse backgrounds.
In order to discuss how ICH can contribute to sustainable society, IRCI organised the Second Researchers Forum “Perspectives of Research for Intangible Cultural Heritage towards a Sustainable Society” on 17-18 December 2019 at the Tokyo National Research Institute for Cultural Properties (Tobunken), in cooperation with the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Japan and Tobunken.
19 experts from Japan and 8 countries and from the UNESCO regional office delivered their presentations and actively discussed the contribution of ICH to the sustainable development, especially on SDGs: 4 (quality education) and SDGs: 11 (sustainable cities and communities). They shared the current situation and issues of the research and discussed the future perspective of the research.
IRCI plans to publish a forum proceedings in March 2020 in order to share the outcome and to further instigate the research for the safeguarding of ICH.
