Description
There are many variants of the Alpomish epic. A part of this version was printed and presented to the Uzbeks. Among them, the epics of Uzbek Bakhshi-poets such as Fazil Yoldosh ogli, Polkan poet, Bekmurod Zhoraboy ogli stand out. The variants of the "Alpomish" epic by Umir Safar and Avliyoqul Mardonaqul, the great representatives of the epic school of South Uzbekistan, were published in this volume. Both options will not leave the reader's attention with the variety of plot and motivation, musicality, melodiousness and wealth of interesting events. Among the Uzbek folk epics, "Alpomish" is distinguished by its many variants, patriotism, love
bravery and courage are sung in high tones. This book contains versions of the epic "Alpomish" by Umir Bakhshi Safarov and Avliyokul Mardonakul, mature representatives of the epic of southern Uzbekistan. Both versions are kept in the Folklore Archive of the Institute of Uzbek Language, Literature and Folklore of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Umir Safarov, a Bakhshi who lived in Dehkanabad district of Kashkadarya region, recorded the first version stored in this archive under inventory number 12541 on June 28, 1958. Recorded by Okhunjon Sobirov. The handwriting is in the Krill alphabet. Up to 160 pages on A4 paper. The part up to pages 162-382 was recorded in a simple notebook. The epic contains 6,012 poetic verses, and 6,435 prose verses. Although Umir Safarov's creative legacy has not been sufficiently studied in Uzbek folklore studies
there are some studies. Among these are the researches of Okhunjon Sobirov and Tora Mirzaev, the recorders of the "Alpomish" saga. The epic is very important because it embodies the ideological and artistic traditions of the southern oasis epic school.
