The encyclopedia "Handicrafts and applied art of Uzbekistan" was published on the basis of the project of the Cabinet of Ministers on the topic of "Preparing the encyclopedia of national symbols and symbols for publication" numbered A-1-30 within the framework of the state scientific and technical program of applied research for 2015-2017. In the two-volume encyclopedia "Handicrafts and applied art of Uzbekistan" an attempt was made to comprehensively collect information about Uzbek folk applied art, history and theory, types of national crafts, masters of applied art, life and work of craftsmen. This encyclopedia is chronologically enriched with articles representing folk crafts and art, starting with the culture of the primitive period that appeared in the territory of Uzbekistan, up to the present day. It contains valuable information about the history of applied art, folk crafts, partly fine art and architecture, their techniques, and the technology of materials. More than 1000 craftsmen are included in the encyclopedia. In particular, they created their own schools while living in ancient times, participated in the construction and repair of historical monuments, created during the independence of Uzbekistan, the "Initiative" competition for the President's prize, international exhibitions, republican exhibitions of traditional handicraft products of "Artisans of an Independent Country" and other prestigious competitions. artisans who participated and received state awards were included in the encyclopedia.The encyclopedia eliminates differences in the understanding of terms, plays an important role in introducing students to the achievements of folk masters, and in the independent study of Uzbek folk art by young people. This encyclopedia serves as the main source that scientifically reflects the achievements in the socio-political, economic and spiritual life of our country, the centuries-old rich history and values of our people, and the wide possibilities of the Uzbek language, and introduces it to the world.
