Description
The history of the Museum of Applied Arts of Uzbekistan has been conducted since 1927, when the first exhibition of works by masters of Uzbekistan was organized here. Initially, the museum was called the museum of artisanal crafts, and in 1997 it received the status of the state and received the current name. The museum stores more than 7,000 samples of folk applied art: handmade embroidery, skullcaps, jewelry, carpets and other patterns of craft skill from the beginning of the 19th century to the present day. All exhibits of the Museum of Applied Arts of Uzbekistan can be divided into three
groups:
- works of applied art created on the basis of ancient traditions and related to schools;
- works created from the second half of the twentieth century, taking into account the traditional methods of folk masters;
- works of modern Uzbek art, decorated with colorful ornaments based on the development of modern applied art.
On the territory of the Museum of Applied Arts there are also two souvenir stores where you can buy painting, graphics, porcelain, carpets, embroidery, fabric, jewelry, coinage, varnish miniature of modern Uzbek masters.
