| Description |
The "Poetics of Tajik Folk Songs" is dedicated to the analysis of traditional Tajik folk songs. For his research, the author Sa’di Qosimi used several sources: research works, published folklore collections, folklore archives, and the fresh folk songs, which he collected directly from the people during his fieldwork. The book consists of an introduction, 4 chapters, 13 subchapters, a conclusion, and a list of references. In the first chapter, the author examines all the terms used in describing the names of songs as genres and defines the genre characteristics of songs. The second chapter provides information about the history of the collection, publication, and research of traditional Tajik songs. The third chapter is dedicated to the types of songs and classification of their subject thus the author classified all Tajik folk songs into 8 types. In the fourth chapter, poetic features, including structure, means of artistic image, style, variation of songs, and harmony of folk songs with music, are analyzed and discussed. In general, this monograph provides complete scientific information on one of the important issues of folklore—the poetics of Tajik folk songs in connection with other branches of literary works, namely terminology, genre, textual, thematic, structural, image creation, variation, stylistics, and musicology. The book is considered a valuable research in the field of collection, preservation, and presentation of Tajik oral literature, and the author believes that the study and preservation of people's oral literature lays the foundation for the enrichment of Tajik written literature. |
