| Description | Over 300 examples of Papua New Guinea music are prepared to help teachers teach students about the diversity of musical expression. Covering all provinces, it relies extensively on materials deposited in the Audiovisual Archive of the Institute of PNG Studies. Descriptions of varying lengths accompany each item, although it is hoped that teachers will be able to elaborate on and supplement the information given. While not pretending to be representative of the whole country, the collection provides a glimpse into the wealth of traditional music forms. This collection was later adopted by the Education Department and used widely in the high schools in the country. It is accompanied by 11 cassettes of musical examples. |
