| Description | This dissertation is the first to be written on dance in Papua New Guinea, in this case concerning the Maring people's dance at kaiko ceremonies. In particular, the author considers the relationship between the movements of dance and the movements of daily activities. By utilizing a method that separates aspects of movement, the author was able to make a detailed analytic description. She demonstrates that Maring dance is a formalized and repetitive use of movement patterns occurring in daily life. |
