Description
Herlelek is a well-known dance in the municipality of Viqueque, used during the rice threshing ceremony. To dance, people hold hands and dance on a pile of rice stalks to thresh and separate the grains from the stalks. This practice was mostly used in the past before the introduction of machinery. Nowadays, with the presence of machinery, this practice is continued only by a few people in remote areas.
