Description
Berana is a special dance performed during rituals in the sacred house. The sacred objects in these houses are believed to serve as intermediaries with the divinity. The elders communicate with the deity in the sacred houses through these sacred objects. The ritual of lowering the sacred objects from the sacred house is accompanied by the Beirana Dance. The elders dance while conveying messages to the deity through songs and movements. People from related sacred houses are invited to participate in the ritual and join in the Beirana dance as well.
