| Description | This Master's thesis is based on how different systems have influenced kastom in Vanuatu. The thesis uses individuals who have a mixed cultures (traditional and Western) and how they have come to identify with their kastom in contemporary Vanuatu. It begins with a history of European contact which has seen the first influence of the western system on the traditional cultures of Vanuatu and gives explanation on how different systems including religion have helped to influence the traditional culture to what it is today. |
